How an SMA may offer a more personalized investment journey for your clients

by Morgan du Plessix

Wealth advisers face a lot of competition to meet their clients’ rising expectations for more holistic investment planning. Separately managed accounts (SMAs) offer substantial potential for personalization. In this episode of “The Ethic Playbook,” relationship manager Morgan du Plessix breaks down the value proposition of opting for an SMA strategy over purchasing an ETF

While ETFs are also a solution that can help investors reach sustainability goals, SMAs offer the following advantages:

  1. Increased transparency. Unlike other managed assets, such as ETFs and index funds, SMAs let investors exclude specific securities, which can help them build portfolios that are more aligned with their values.
  2. More efficient tax management capabilities. By allowing investors to directly own individual stocks, their advisers can efficiently incorporate tax management into trading decisions.
  3. Double down on impact through proxy voting. Investors can impact corporate behavior through proxy voting or shareholder resolutions when they invest in SMAs, as the solution lets them directly own the underlying securities.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
