In wealth management, we often treat risk as a mathematical formula—a series of standard deviations and Sharpe ratios. But for Ron Albahary, Chief Investment Officer at LNW, true risk is deeply psychological.

In the latest episode of Work Ethic, Ethic CEO Doug Scott sits down with Albahary to explore a career that spans global markets and decades of leadership. From moving 12 times before the age of 18 to overseeing investments at a $16 billion RIA with a multi-generational view, Albahary offers a unique perspective on why the best investors must understand humans just as well as they understand markets.

Key takeaways from the episode include:

  • The Humility of Starting Over: How moving across four countries as a child taught Albahary the importance of resilience, deep listening, and starting every new engagement with humility.
  • The Psychological Trick of Risk: A powerful lesson learned from a retired doctor that reveals how applying different "labels" to asset buckets can fundamentally change a client's intrinsic view of risk.
  • Vulnerability as a Leadership Tool: Why the most effective teams are those where the leader is willing to admit mistakes "early and often" to build a culture of radical trust.
  • AI as a Productivity Engine: How LNW is using AI tools to automate low-value manual tasks, allowing well-compensated analysts to focus on high-value idea generation.
  • The Future of Impact Investing: Why Albahary believes we should be "presiding over the demise" of impact investing conferences—because social and environmental factors should simply be integrated into all smart investing.
  • The Ownership Mindset: Why work ethic isn't about hours logged, but about walking into an organization and thinking like an owner from day one.

Whether you are building a team, navigating volatile markets, or looking to drive innovation in the wealth space, Albahary’s insights provide a roadmap for leading with both technical competence and human empathy.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
