As Season 1 of Work Ethic wraps, we’re closing with a special bonus episode built around one question we asked guests throughout the season: What advice would they give to people aspiring to build successful careers in wealth management?
The answers come from leaders across the industry, including Yie-Hsin Hung of State Street Investment Management, Jon Foster of Angeles Wealth, Greg Brown of Caprock, Steven Tenney of Grandview & Co, Cameron Dawson of NewEdge, Matthew Weatherley-White of Sorenson Impact Advisory, and Michel Del Buono of a16z Perennial.
While each answer provides distinct insight, they also reveal patterns. Across all of the answers, a few themes stand out: success compounds when you keep learning, when you focus on helping others succeed, and when you resist the urge to over-engineer every step of your path and instead embrace life’s unpredictability.
For advisors, finance professionals and aspiring leaders in wealth management, this episode offers a rare look at the kind of mindset that sustains a successful life and career.
Key ideas from the episode:
- Keep learning: Read deeply, study history, and stay open to experiences that stretch you.
- Think beyond yourself: The people who help others succeed tend to build the strongest careers.
- Own a niche: Find an area you care about and become exceptional in it.
- Don’t over-plan: Great careers often come from curiosity and momentum, not a rigid master plan.
Thank you for watching and listening to the inaugural season of Work Ethic. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve already surpassed 250,000 views / listens, and have been shortlisted for the Wealth Management Industry Awards Podcast of the Year.
We’ll be back in the fall, when we’ll return with an exciting lineup of world-class leaders exploring the future of wealth.
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
